Innovative buoyancy elements for snorkeling, scuba diving and deep sea applications

Faire: Rome

Maker: Rainer Kuth

Problem: During scuba diving and other deep sea / underwater applications common tools like lamps, cameras, knifes, fins, masks, etc. sink fast when accidentally lost, because their density is higher than water. Sportive divers with deep-licenses can dive up to 40m for a short time and tech divers for app. 100m after complex preparation of highly sophisticated equipment and training. Loss of tools is frequent, expensive and dangerous, because sea is deeper than that at most places. Challenge: Manufacturing buoyancy elements + with a density significantly less than water + while these shall withstand high hydraulic pressure + while the buoyancy force should be exactly defined and independent of depth is not trivial. Solution: 3d printing / additive manufacturing using special parameters upon printing and optionally with hybrid processes support making buoyancy elements with individual shape and buoyancy force. With such e.g. a loss of a mask with individual glasses for 1000€ is avoided: the mask will slowly rise to the water surface for save and easy recovery. Making such buoyancy elements is possible with a 3d printer for less than 500€, a free 3d construction software and a free slicing software using special parameters. Contribution: I will show on the booth: + Free design software for buoyancy elements + Free slicing software +

E-Horizon Project

Faire: Rome

Maker: Ass.ne Italiana Makers Automotive

E-Horizon Project is a project that encourages young people to be creative and take control of their future. Starting from a "Crazy Idea", the project has created a community of young motor enthusiasts with a common dream: to become part of the world of world motorsports. Through the new technologies of industry 4.0, all high school students, willing to test themselves and learn, can express their creativity and their technical knowledge, creating models of racing cars in 1:10 scale through the use of CAD software, 3D printing, microcontroller programming. Eventually they can compete with other makers, competing with the cars they create. The project includes different categories of cars to be built: - MKRS: Formula 1-style cars, electrically powered, designed and driven by school kids - Hypercar: project similar to MKRS but with cars with covered wheels - Driverless: self-driving Hypercar-style cars. At Maker Faire Rome we will bring the 2023 prototypes of the various projects plus other models we have previously made and we will hold small shows to show the capabilities of our cars and the potential of our project.

BR – Un bracciale per controllare il mondo

Faire: Rome

Maker: Agnello Pepe

IL BR is a simple wearable device that allows you to control your PC and beyond by simply moving a hand. The device recognizes the acceleration produced by movement and compares it with user-selected and fully customizable "trigger" values, so as to simulate pressing a key on the keyboard, to control various aspects of your PC, to scroll through a presentation smoothly and much more. Thanks to the Internet connection, the BR can connect to very distant devices (such as drones, radio-controlled cars and much more) and control them remotely thanks to the acceleration produced by the user. The presence of a rechargeable battery allows uninterrupted use for over 4 hours. The case like the strap are totally 3D printed so as to be light and suitable for any user. The BR is supported by a PC interface that allows you to fully customize any aspect of the device. Like “trigger” accelerations, simulated keystrokes and much more. Furthermore, once the interface is closed after connecting the device, the BR will continue to work in the background allowing for simple and fluid use.
