"Mangioco" is a set of multi-sensory tools for children, designed for the period after weaning and before the transition to classic cutlery. It is a time when the child discovers new foods and textures for the first time. The set consists of three elements, designed to be 3D printed with biodegradable materials, attributable to the typical cutlery (fork, knife, spoon). It represents an introductory tool to cutlery, aimed at preventing the emergence of food neophobia thanks to the knowledge of food through the senses and the game.

Intelligenza artificiale come supporto alla diagnosi di epatocarcinoma

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer worldwide. Early diagnosis is crucial to improve management and provide survival benefits to patients with HCC.
We designed a Machine Learning (ML) and a Deep Learning (DL) for nuclei classification by using features extracted by immunofluorescence images.
We demonstrated the ability of the proposed models to classify liver nuclei segmented by immunofluorescence images, thus suggesting a potential useful tool for pathologists in HCC diagnosis.
ANTIBACTERIAL TABLEWARE

The "Antibacterial Plate" project stems from an important Research & Development phase that the company has already undertaken since 2020 during the pandemic. We wondered what could be needed in such a moment and what it could cope with in a market like ours to a pandemic but also to an improvement of catering and private environments.This is how the research and first prototyping phase of this project began, which saw the filing of a patent for a particular object which, due to its particularity, can reject up to 99% of the bacteria that deposit on it can be bacteria of various types and by imagining the various "passages" of dishes, for example in a restaurant or self-service restaurant or naval restaurant halls, we hypothesized that these objects could have an enormous plus compared to other identical but not antibacterial objects.We have therefore arrived at the laboratory certification of products both in single color and with antibacterial decorations and decals with a characteristic that resists the microwave oven and dishwasher for the entire life of the product without ever failing up to at its breakup. This product is extremely innovative as it can be used in many areas, both private and public, to increase hygiene and above all to counteract the spread of bacteria in the kitchen and in refreshment areas without considering that being reusable after washing it is also highly environmental impact and reduces the use of "single portions" which are extremely polluting today.
SmartUx – I DO IT

"I DO IT" is an all-in-one application that integrates several advanced features in order to make tourism more inclusive for everyone. Thanks to the use of mixed reality, users can virtually explore and visit hotels, discovering every detail without having to physically move from their location. NFC tags allow guests to easily access to detailed information about the hotel, improving the user experience.
The app also offers audio-description services for the blind, allowing them to fully enjoy the attractions without audio-visual barriers. In addition, thanks to the Italian Sign Languageinterpreter, our deaf users can easily communicate and interact during their travels.
To ensure accessibility for visually impaired people, SMARTUX has developed a tactile book in Braille. This tool contains a detailed map of the city, a floor plan of the hotel room and a wide representation of the hotel itself. Using the NFC connection, users can access the audio description and the ISL interpreter directly from the book, allowing complete inclusion and making it easier to plan their trips.
REACT – Heartbeat dynamic monitor

VO2 is a commonly used index to notify users of their fitness level, which, when measured with wearable devices, can, however, provide inaccurate assessments due to the low quantity and quality of recorded data.
To overcome this problem, we have developed REACT, a biosignal processing method based on artificial intelligence algorithms, to characterize heart rate dynamics in real time while providing a personalized tool to support training and cardiovascular risk reduction.

Sedia a rotelle elettrica per tetraplegici

In the 2022-2023 school year, the students of class IV and V of the Electronic Robotics specialization allowed tetraplegic people, i.e., person with inability to voluntarily move the upper and lower parts of the body, to move independently and using the residual mobility of the head.
An Arduino NANO 33 BLE and an inertial sensor present on board allow to intercept the movements of the head and, through the Bluetooth module, the information of the head movements is delivered to a self-built Master board and subsequently, through the DAC, the voltages are created to run the engines. Moreover, a set of sensors on the perimeter of the wheelchair avoids obstacles and a LIDAR sensor helps reconstruct the surrounding environment.

Our community is dedicated to developing and providing free assistive devices for children and adults with limb difference problems.
All of our projects are either open source derivatives or released by us (when original creations from our community) as open source.
After SwimAble (the device for swimming, 2021) and the Bike Adapter (the device for cycling, 2022), this year we present the new ideas developed by our volunteers: the low-cost robotic hand prototypes and the devices that can help children to practice sports and in their free time, including an evolution of the bike adapters to be able to practice archery, a device that allows children with limb difference problems to play the drums and a tool for makers without 3d engineering skills that dynamically generates custom STL models of assistive devices adapted to the physical and anatomical characteristics of the recipients, to broaden accessibility to these devices.

StomyCraft

Stomy Craft is a project of FAIS OdV that uses Minecraft to inform and pediatric patients and family members. With gamification, stool bag handling is simulated and appropriate feeding is taught. StomyCraft is a phygital project; alongside the video game, there are physical components: a LEGO-compatible element that can transform a miniature into a character with an ostomy bag and a bag cover that can be customized with the image you prefer.
The goal of the project is to improve children's (and caregivers') acceptance of the condition to improve their quality of life.

Driven by this passion that we live every day, we have developed a line of rackets that allows any type of player, from those just starting out in this sport to those who are already completely in love with it, to find their unique element.
The innovation of our project lies in creating a racket that is completely customisable. The blade is a blank canvas where the player can decide to customise it in every detail, making his racket unique in design.
The customisation technique we use is studied down to the smallest detail and has been subjected to various stress tests, proving that the print does not lose quality and resolution after every stroke, after every game. Furthermore, the technique we use does not affect the racquet's characteristics, making it perfectly usable for every game, guaranteeing durability, handling and balance.

The main components of the project are blockchain-tracked products and metabolic avatars. The blockchain aspect includes a wide range of agri-food products from select Italian companies, allowing users to interact with them in an immersive experience. They can learn about the products' origins, nutritional characteristics, and make informed choices. Users can also connect with the producing companies, gaining insights into their sustainable production practices and the food supply chain.
The metabolic avatar is a personalized digital representation of an individual's metabolism, created using information from wearable devices such as smart bands and impedance scales. It enables real-time and remote monitoring of physiological parameters, providing data used to deliver a customized quality index for food choices based on simulated metabolic effects. The avatar tracks user metabolism levels over time, offering a comprehensive view of metabolic variations and responses to consumed foods and supplements.
The personalized metabolic avatar (PMA) employs a deep learning GRU (gated recurrent unit) model trained to predict weight changes, blood glucose, and other physiological variables tailored to macronutrient composition and daily energy balance. The model allows simulations and evaluations of dietary plans, facilitating the definition of customized goals for achieving ideal weight.
NECTAR's platform integrates metabolic and sensory avatars, blockchain, and virtual reality technologies to create a metaverse dedicated to agrifood. Avatars interact with blockchain-tracked products, providing consumers with detailed information on the origin, quality, and sustainability of food products. By combining sensory and metabolic analyses with blockchain, NECTAR ensures transparency, sustainability, and food safety, meeting the needs of consumers, institutions, and companies. The ultimate goal is to promote sustainable agriculture, environmentally and human-health-friendly food production, circular economy, and the reduction of food waste, following the "One Health" approach.
NECTAR addresses various industrial, economic, and social challenges. It tackles the lack of transparency in nutritional information and the presence of unhealthy ingredients in food products. It also aims to combat the global obesity epidemic by promoting balanced and healthy eating. Furthermore, NECTAR aims to address social issues by offering affordable access to nutritious and sustainable food.
In conclusion, NECTAR is an innovative proposal that combines emerging technologies like the metaverse, metabolic avatars, blockchain, and NFTs to create a platform dedicated to agrifood, promoting sustainability and transparency in the industry. Despite not being realized yet, presenting this project to the public can generate interest, engagement, and potential collaborations while evaluating market demand.
ECOLUV: Sun protection as plants teach us

ECOLUV is a multifunctional natural cosmetic ingredient, composed of micro and nano particles of lignin which are produced through an eco-sustainable and scalable procedure. This has allowed the real circular valorisation of lignin, usually discarded by paper mills or biorefineries. ECOLUV is the alternative to: i) traditional synthetic UV filters known as pollutants and toxicity; ii) often recalcitrant synthetic chelators; iii) compounds with antioxidant activity; iii) antimicrobial preservatives iv) emulsion stabilizer. ECOLUV is a mature product, provided with certifications, technical and safety data sheets, and therefore ready for marketing.
